September is National Pain Awareness Month? The American Chronic Pain Association (ACPA) has a wealth of resources for caregivers, patients and advocates living with chronic pain. They spearhead Partners for Understanding Pain. This consortium of organizations touches the lives of people with chronic, acute and cancer pain. From their site, you can learn more and get involved as an advocate for patients living with chronic pain.
Caresfield Cares
Because Caresfield cares deeply about the experience of your patients, we keep their comfort in mind when considering new products to develop and source. We understand that a big part of that experience is patient comfort.
Undoubtedly, items like cohesive bandages, patient identification wristbands and tourniquets aren’t the most important tools at your organization’s disposal to address your patients’ chronic pain.
But we have developed and improved these products with patient comfort as the most important consideration. As we recognize national pain awareness month, here are some of the ways focus on patient comfort.
- Typically used in place of adhesive bandages or medical tape, cohesive bandages offer a non-latex, pain-free, and trauma-free experience.
- Next, consider the SensaBandTM, the World’s Most Comfortable wristband. While an ID wristband may do nothing to relieve a patient’s pain, why add to a patient’s discomfort with an uncomfortable wristband? For more information, check out our guide, How to Select a Healthcare Wristband to Fit Your Needs.
- The right kind of tourniquet for the right patient is unquestionably important for patient comfort. That’s why Caresfield continues to innovate specialty tourniquets for pediatric, geriatric and bariatric patients. Learn more in our blog post, Specialty Tourniquets Ease Pressures of Phlebotomy.
- Finally, the right medications for pain management (and an awareness of what allergies and medications the patient is already taken) are incredibly important to helping a patient have a pain-free or pain-reduced experience in your care. An essential part of delivering the right medications is, of course, proper labeling. As part of our continued commitment to patient safety, Caresfield has recently requested the Medication Safety Board (MSB) review a select number of Caresfield’s preprinted IV tubing labels to ensure their labels are consistent with recommended safety practices.
