Caresfield Cares: Spin4 Crohn’s & Colitis Cures Fundraiser

As part of the Caresfield Cares program in December, Caresfield is taking part in a spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures ride. It is a deeply personal cause for our team, as Caresfield Vice President of Sales and Marketing Stefanie Bosshart lives with Crohn’s Disease. By taking part in the spin4 event, our team will raise funds to support research by the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.

Caresfield’s team is collecting donations until Friday Dec. 9, with the ride taking place in early December.

Living with Crohn’s

Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract.1 According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 3.1 million adults in the U.S. suffer from inflammatory bowel disease, which includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.2

Bosshart was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2007. Due to the diagnosis, she was already familiar with the foundation. The organization helped her navigate the diagnosis early on. She also noted how the organization funds research into treatments that help her stay in remission and maintain a high quality of life.

“I was touched when one of our customers, a Gastroenterology group, reached out to see if we could support the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation during a future Caresfield Cares program,” Bosshart said. “Not all patients respond to current treatments like my body has so the foundation’s important work is far from over. I’ve participated in spin4 cures before and knowing several other spin-enthusiasts at Caresfield, I thought it would be great to gather a team.”

The Caresfield Team

Joining Bosshart on the Caresfield team is Senior Director of Sales Amber Bogard, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships Kacie Bemmels and Kacie’s husband Wade.

“I have a lot of empathy and understanding for those living every day with Crohn’s and Colitis,” Bemmels said. “There are certainly a lot of ups and downs with living with an autoimmune disease physically, emotionally and mentally. I also am an avid indoor cyclist and huge Peloton-er so once I saw that it involved cycling I jumped to join our team!”

Bogard is also taking part in the fundraiser because of personal connections. Her father has battled Crohn’s for years.

“I am spinning for the cure because I know several people afflicted with these debilitating diseases,” Bogard said. “I am also very passionate about spinning which I do close to daily on my Peloton bike at home. I wanted to merge my passion for spin with finding a cure for Crohn’s!”
