Caresfield Cares: 150 Thank You Notes for Healthcare Workers

In February, our Caresfield Cares program wrote thank you notes for doctors, nurses, admin staff and other healthcare heroes who have been working hard to keep everyone safe during the pandemic. We had 28 thank you note submissions from our online form which we converted into handwritten notes of gratitude. Between the form and employee efforts we wrote over 150 thank you notes!

Throughout the pandemic, burnout has been a consistent challenge for healthcare workers. In many areas it is driving nurses and other workers to change jobs or leave the industry entirely. According to a 3 News Now story from KMTV in Omaha, burnout and compassion fatigue are impacting staffing.

“We had one-third of our new hires, our first-year nurses, leave the organization in the last fiscal year. That’s the highest we’ve ever seen, so the pandemic is definitely impacting our staffing,” said Nebraska Medicine Chief Nursing Officer Dr. Sue Nuss.

Thank you notes for healthcare workers

We know a thank you note may not make a huge difference. These small tokens of gratitude may not prevent burnout for healthcare professionals, especially those on the front lines. However, we do hope we helped these healthcare heroes know how much their service and sacrifice is appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this effort a success! We’ll be working on a different project each month through the program, check out our tentative 2022 schedule.
