Doing the Right Thing – With Sandwiches!

For most of us, sandwiches barely register a thought in our day-to-day lives. We get up, drop the kids at daycare and go to work. If we’re lucky, at the end of the day we’ve had three solid meals with people we love and appreciate. Not everyone is so fortunate.

In August, the Caresfield Cares program focused on two programs that both involved sandwiches. First on Wednesday, Aug. 17, over a dozen team members made sandwiches for Love One Another. While we are proud of the 200 sandwiches we put together, the hero is The Sandwich Guy, Allen Law. Every night he drives the streets of Minneapolis, delivering sandwiches and supplies to homeless.

“In my first year with Caresfield, I’ve donated blood for the first time in decades, written thank you notes for health care workers and now made a hefty pile of sandwiches,” said Tom Sedlacek, Caresfield content marketing manager. “I love that our culture embraces activities that make the world a better place. I’m even more thankful there are heroes like Allan Law who get our efforts into the hands that need help.”

Supporting Black Business

In addition to making sandwiches for Love One Another, we celebrated Black Business Month by catering lunch for our Lakeville headquarters Aug. 22. While not exactly sandwiches, the Afro Deli’s chicken, lamb and beef chapati wraps were a handheld treat for our team.

For recent Chicago transplant Wade Blom, Caresfield director of supply chain and operations, it was an opportunity to bond with teammates who aren’t always in the office.

“A lot of our team is remote, but everyone appreciates free lunch. We had a lot of remote employees working in the office for the day,” Blom said. “As a supply chain expert, my focus is usually on global supplies and port updates. It was nice to take a moment to celebrate a local minority-owned business. I highly recommend the lamb.”

Continuing to Care

The Caresfield Cares Program has had a tremendous year so far. In September we look forward to recognizing Prostate Awareness, Hispanic Heritage and Little League Month. See the 2022 Caresfield Cares schedule.
